Easter Services Sunday To Begin With One At Sunrise REV. MARK OSBORNE Mrs. Pullium Is Head Of Cancer Control Drive Mrs. D. E. Pullium of Andrews has been appointed county chair man for the Cherokee county drive oi the American Cancer society to hi1 conducted this month. Scout Leaders' Meetings Held The first of a series of meetings for ine leaders, and parents if they v ish to attend, bov ^couts will begin at C o'cloc* in the after noon on Sunday. April 6. at the Murphy Recreation hall. These meetings will be held each Sun day for four consecutive weeks. This program is designed to de velop better citizens, self reliance, end a definite understanding of the interdependence of boys and ether people. This course will be conducted by James T. Osborne, training committeeman for the Nantahala District. (International) Maddox To Preach; Osborne To Lead Singing At Revival Revival services will start at First Baptist church here Monday evening and will continue through April 16. The Rev. Sam Maddox, pastor of First Baptist church, Florence. Ala .. will do the preach ing. and the Rev. Mark Osborne, pj.stor of Cullowhce Baptist church Cullowhee. will lead the singing. Both of these ministers are well known in Murphy, the Rev. Mr. Maddox having conducted a re- 1 vival here last year, and the Rev. Mr. Osborne having preached here at least on one occasion. The Rev. Creel Census To Be Taken April 12-13th Attractive prizes are being of- 4 fered to fishermen who will par- : tieipate in the Creek census to be conducted by the TVA on Hiwas see Lake at Hiwassee Dam on | April 12 and 13. The prizes are being given by the Two Lakes Recreation club at Hiwassee Dam. j sponsors of the census. Fishermen are urged to partici pate in the census by fishing on the lake on the above dates. It is de sired that as many as possible use their own boats and motors. Those planning to cooperate are asked to give their names either to Duke Whitley of Murphy or Bill McCoy of Hiwassee Dam. publicity officer for the sponsoring club. Bass, pike and crappie taken from the lake during the census taking will be tagged and put back into the lake. A prize is offered tor the largest one caught during the two-day period A prize also will be given everybody who catches any of the tagged fish in the future. Duplicate prizes also will be given to the one who originally caught the fish. The census is being conducted for TVA under the direction of Dr. R. W. Eschmeyer. fishing specialists for the purpose of de terming how fast the fish in the lake arc growing, whether they are receiving the proper amount of food, if the stock is being depleted, where the fish are being caught, and whether the lake needs re stocking. The census will start at 7 a. m. <CST> on both days. Funeral Held For S. M. Crawford ANDREWS ? Funeral services for Samuel Madison Crawford. 94. who died Saturday. March 29, were held at the funeral chapel Sun day. March 30. at 3 o'clock. Rev. T. Karl Ogg officiated. Mr. Crawford was a charter member of the Baptist church at ' Andrews. Churches Will Have Special Sermons, Music Easter sunrise services will be hi'ld at 6 o'clock Sunday morning, on Petrie hospital hill, with all churches in the community partici pating. The service is held near the hospitals for the benefit of patients who will be unable to at tend services during the day. The Rev J. Alton Morris, pastor of First Baptist church, will lead a brief Easter meditation, and other pastors will read scripture iind offer prayer. Special music and group singing will be a part of the service. All churches are planning spec ial Easter services at the regular hours Sunday. The Rev. Russell L. Young will use for his theme at the First Methodist church at 11 o'clock, "The Empty Tomb ", and at 7:30 o'clock in the evening, he will be gin a series of messages on the Apostles Creed, the subject for Sunday night being "I Believe in God.'' At the morning service the choir will sing the voluntary, "Now Is Christ Risen" by Roy E. Nolte, and a trio composed of C. R. Freed, W.
